Rapper Dolla Killed

An Atlanta rapper known as Dolla, was fatally shot at the Beverly Center on Monday afternoon.

The shooting occurred around 3:10 p.m. in the parking structure of the popular Westside mall. Dolla, a rapper whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot in the head while he and another rapper, D.J. Shabbazz, were waiting in the valet area, according to Dolla's publicist, Sue Vannasing. A friend who was with the rappers at the Beverly Center as well as a Los Angeles Police Department source also confirmed his identity to The Times.

Two suspects fled from the scene, police said. About two hours later, Los Angeles police detained a “person of interest" as he attempted to board a plane out of Los Angeles International Airport.

Dolla arrived at LAX from Atlanta earlier in the day and went to the Beverly Center to do some shopping, Vannasing said.

He had apparently had a dispute with some people, perhaps at the airport, Vannasing said.

“They followed him to the mall because they knew he was coming," Vannasing said. Los Angeles police officials could not immediately confirm or deny that account.

Dolla was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died, police said.

Dolla was an up-and-coming rapper out of Atlanta who had recorded several singles. He was in town to work on his first album, slated to be released this summer on Jive Records, Vannasing said. His first single, released in 2007, was “Who the [Expletive] is that?"

American Idol Top 5 Matt Giraud | My Funny Valentine

Matt Giraud of American Idol, sang "My Funny Valentine" tonight. Tonights mentor, Jamie Foxx, had no suggestions initially, but called Matt back into the room later and advised him to change the key.
Randy said it was one of the hardest songs to sing and was a little pitchy. Kara did not feel that he was emotionally committed to the song. Paula said that she loved what he did with the song and that she felt an emotional connection. Simon said that it was the most believable performance of the night and that his performance was absolutely brilliant.

Susan Boyle Cry Me a River CD

Britain's singing sensation Susan Boyle has become a Youtube Internet Celebrity overnight and has even appeared on a few American TV shows already.

THE Daily Record has uncovered the only CD ever made by Scotland’s singing
sensation Susan Boyle.

It emerged last night that Susan, whose Britain’s Got Talent triumph has made her an instant superstar, is being lined up for an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show which would give her the chance of a number one album in the US.

But the Record can reveal she made her first recording back in 1999, when she sang blues ballad Cry Me A River for a charity CD.

Only 1000 copies of the disc were ever produced, but we’ve got hold of the long-forgotten recording and it’s now on our site. A showbiz insider said: “This is a real coup for the Record. The whole world would have wanted to find this.

“People will be scrambling to get their hands on this CD. They will be like gold dust soon.”

Trace Adkins wins ACM's Single of the Year Award

Trace Adkins wins ACM's Single of the Year Award

Trace Adkins won his first Acadamy of Country Music Award since 1996. He picked up the 2009 Single of the Year award for 'You're Gonna Miss This.' No one was more surprised about the win than Trace himself.

"I have to tell you the truth. This song was recorded by a father whose oldest daughter had just gotten married. It was very personal to me, and I didn't think other people would relate to it the way I did," he said. "So it was put on a greatest hits album as a bonus track. Mike Dungan, President of Capitol Records, called one day and told me it was gonna be a single. And I said, 'Go ahead, but ain't nobody gonna play it.' I'm glad I'm an idiot!"
